Public Notice:  The City of Bonham would like to inform the City residents of an upcoming water project. City utility crews will begin work to discontinue an old leaking water line in the 1100 block of West 7th on 11-16-2016 at 10:00 pm. Crews will work through the night until this project is completed. During this time, this area and surrounding areas may not have water service and through traffic will be prohibited with the exception of residents living in the 1100 block of West 7th. Because water will be limited for an extended time and, for precautionary purposes, The City of Bonham will also be issuing a boil water notice that will begin on 11-16-2016 at 10:00 pm and will continue until water samples collected once the project is completed that next morning, once the water samples taken to the lab are cleared, we will lift the boil water notice. Notice: On Friday July 18th, 2015, the City of Bonham was advised by the VA Hospital regarding the presence of Legionella pneumophila in water samples at their facility. It is our understanding that these samples were taken inside the facility at different water tap locations. This issue did not originate from the City of Bonham water supply. The North Texas Municipal Water District whom treats surface water for the City of Bonham treats water with Monochloramine which is used to both disinfect as well as eliminate harmful bacteria. The City of Bonham collects monthly water samples from various quadrants of the city and has them tested for chemical residuals and bacteria. The city produces an annual water quality report furnished to both the state and the citizens. As a matter of quality assurance, the city conducted a recent sampling of water on Monday July 20th, 2015 near the VA Hospital and various distribution points of the city. The water tests came back detecting no bacteria or harmful particles in the city’s water supply. Rest assured that the City of Bonham water supply is of superior water quality.
